Microsoft has announced the beginning of the first stage of the MS Windows XP localization for Azerbaijan.

The company has held a presentation in Baku today, where the company's head in Baku, Vladimir Tchaikovsky has mentioned that the company's products are now translated into 45 languages of the world, Trend reports.

Works to translate Windows XP are conducted in cooperation with AZEL (Azerbaijan Electronics) on the basis of the earlier signed contract.

The first stage of the project will include presentation of the terminological glossary of the MS operational system, he said.

"Considering the great importance of the localization project, Microsoft is committed to attract as many people as possible for the discussion of glossary," he added.

In order to participate in the project all users have to register at website created by Microsoft http://members.microsoft.com/wincg/home.aspx?langid=1068.

Then they will be able to suggest their own versions of the translation of certain words in the glossary. All proposed translations will later be reviewed by the special commission with the head of the project, Elmir Velizade in charge and the head of the IT technologies of the president apparatus. The final version will be included into the official variant glossary Language Interface Pack (LIP), which will allow users to work with the full-fledged Azerbaijani version of XP.

"Localization of Windows into Azerbaijani language will increase the number of Microsoft production users in Azerbaijan and contribute to the IT development in the country," he concluded.

As for financing; it was stated that all expenditures are covered by the corporation. "All works will be over by the end of this year," AZEL company head, Igor Yakovenko said.
