03 April 2006 [15:54] - TODAY.AZ
The Bahamian authorities will only decide about the Czech request to have Irish financier of Czech extraction Viktor Kozeny extradited after they settle the same request by the USA, Justice Minister Pavel Nemec and his deputy Roman Polasek told journalists.

This was told by representatives of the Bahamian judiciary to the Czech delegation during its trip to the Bahamas on March 26-31, Nemec said.

According to Czech News Agency, The Czech Republic asked for Kozeny's extradition last May.

The United States wants him extradited over a corruption charge and money laundering in connection with the privatisation of oil industry in Azerbaijan.

At the U.S. request, Kozeny has been in custody in the Bahamas since last October.

The Czech Republic has also asked for the extradition of Kozeny who has been charged with embezzlement of property worth 13.6 billion crowns in the country.
