Azerbaijan, UAE discuss prospects of tourism cooperation

Chairman of the State Tourism Agency Fuad Naghiyev has met with the Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Mohammed Al Blushi to discuss prospects of tourism cooperation.

The sides exchanged views on the impact of the visa-free regime between the two countries to the increase of mutual visits, Azernews reports.

Fuad Naghiyev and Mohammed Al Blushi touched upon UAE's investment opportunities and its investment opportunities to Azerbaijan's tourism sector.

In the first half of 2023, the number of citizens visiting Azerbaijan from the United Arab Emirates reached 18,884, which means a 23 percent increase compared to the same period last year.

Direct flights from UAE to Azerbaijan are currently operating 50 times a week.

Notably, United Arab Emirates has recognized the independence of the Republic of Azerbaijan on December 26, 1991. Diplomatic relations between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the UAE were established on September 01, 1992. In June 1994 Ambassador of UAE in Ankara was accredited to Azerbaijan. On June 16, 2001, the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan opened in Abu Dhabi. On October 2011 the Embassy of the UAE was opened in the Republic of Azerbaijan. Besides, the trade turnover between Azerbaijan and the UAE amounted to $102m in 2022.
