Volume of currency transactions implemented in currency section of BICEX in January decreased by 33% to compare with December

24 banks participated in auctions held in the currency section of the Baku Interbank Currency Exchange (BICEX) in January, 2006.

As APA informs, 34 trading sessions were held in the Exchange during that period and 80 bargains were registered as a result. Total volume of trade on US dollar formed AZN 65.29 million or $71.312 million. No bargains were registered on RUR and EUR tools.

According to the information given by BICEX, volume of trade in the currency section of the Exchange decreased by $34.61 million or 32.7% in comparison with the indicators of December of the past year.

At the same time, the indicator of volume decreased by $7.3 million or 9.3% as against the analogous period of the previous year and it is because of decrease in the number of workdays in the month under review.

Meanwhile, BICEX determined the list of five leading banks for participation share in the currency section. So, the International bank of Azerbaijan (32.78%), Bank of Baku (6.97%), Bank Standard (4.31%), Bank Respublika (3.84%) and UniBank (3.15%) were included in the list of leading banks having the highest share in total volume of auctions.
