Board meeting on last year results held in Nakhchivan State Customs Committee

24 January 2006 [03:20] - TODAY.AZ
In a board meeting held by the State Customs Committee (SCC) of the Autonomous Republic of Nakhchivan (ARN) the Head of the Committee Asaf Mammadov made a speech on activities carried out in 2005 and tasks ahead.

So, as APA reports, new buildings were constructed for the Sederek customs office, and modern equipments, machinery and technical control were provided. Analogous measures are currently implemented in the Julfa customs office.

According to SCC, AZM 20.406 billion against forecasted AZM 12 billion were collected and transferred into the budget by the Committee in the reporting year and this exceeds the amount collected of 2004 by 30.4%. A.Mammadov also said that in ARN having trade relations with 16 foreign states general volume of import-export operations increased by 26.5% to AZM54.447 million in comparison with the previous year.

In the mean time, shortcomings were also pointed out in the meeting. So, in most cases employees do not conduct customs declarations in accordance with schedule in customs offices and because stamps are put weakly, sometimes it is impossible to read their numbers.

As a result of weak control of the Nakhchivan air transport customs office on Moscow-Nakhchivan flights, no goods were documented for commercial purposes during the year. However, goods weighing more than 50 kilograms or worth over $1000 are of commercial purpose. Such goods were brought in some flights. Displaying goods in monitors is feebly organized and inactivity in fighting smuggling is more striking in the Julfa customs office and Shahtakhti customs post.

The director of the department of the Supreme Majlis Apparatus of ARN Shukur Babayev made a report in the meeting and spoke about the tasks ahead. He stressed the importance of strengthening control on quality, expert examination and packaging of goods and products imported to the autonomous republic.
