Russia not to authorize sailing of Azerbaijan’s ships in interior waters of Russia

29 September 2005 [10:09] - TODAY.AZ
The neighbor country still does not authorize the sailing of Azerbaijan’s ships in the interior waters of Russia.
Despite of many promises of Russian government this problem has not been solved yet.

The initial stage of the talks held by deputy Prime minister Abbas Abasov with Russian side failed to achieve any results. According to the information given to APA from the press service of State Caspian Shipping Company (SCSC), Russian Federation Prime minister’s order is needed for the sailing of nearly 20 ships of Azerbaijan in the waters of the above mentioned country.

The order is delayed due to unknown reasons. As concerns how many allocations Azerbaijani side loose by this, the press service stated that, though the concrete sum is not defined the SCSC loose some income by this. Thus, due to the lack of decision the cargoes to be carried by Azerbaijan’s ships are carried by the ships sailing under Russian flags.

It must be noted that, this matter was touched in the VII extraordinary meeting of International Association of Shipping Entrepreneurs of Black Sea (IASEB)   in Baku on 20 September. The meeting participants said that talks will be conducted with the Russian government for sailing of not only Azerbaijan’s ships but also the ships of the IASEB member countries in the territory of Russia.
