OPIC allocated funds to Catel for extending wireless communication in regions of Azerbaijan

Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC) – a USA government agency, in charge of support of private American investments, approved allocation of $10 million to the joint Azerbaijani-American enterprise (JV) Catel (Caspian American Telecommunications, LLC).
The investments are designed for dissemination of the CATEL wireless telephone communication network in the regions of Azerbaijan, JV told Trend.

The enterprise noted, this is the first commercial project in the country, funded by OPİC. «Negotiations on opening the investment line have been held with the president of the American Omni Communications, İnc. Derya Yavalar for some years”, - JV underlined.  

JV CATEL renders services of wireless telephone communication in Azerbaijan since 1998. The CATEL’s wireless communications services are used in Baku, Sumgaiyt and the Apsheron peninsular. The company has two stations in the regions – in Gyanja and Nabran.
