Azerbaijan will face with problem gas insufficiency next winter season

30 March 2005 [13:49] - TODAY.AZ
Azerbaijan might face with a problem of insufficiency in gas supply in the winter period of 2005-2006, Etibar Pirverdiyev, the President of Azerenergy JSC, told journalists.
According to Pirverdiyev, the energy consumption grows in high speed. "This year we needed 800 MW of additional energy. It stands for the development of economy, while we cannot catch up the demand through the construction of new power stations. So, the energy shortage is inevitable in the winter period of 2005-2006," Pirverdiyev noted.

Besides, Pirverdiyev noted that despite insufficiency in electricity, no restriction will be applied in Baku and Sumgayit.

At present the energy system of Azerbaijan is comprised of four TPSs and five HPSs with the total of capacity of 4,300 MW.
