German Bank confirms a concept of project on rehabilitation of water supply system in Ganja, Shaki

German bank for development KfW has accorded with Azerbaijan a concept of the project on the rehabilitation of water supply system in Ganja and Shaki.
Baku Office of KfW told Trend the concept envisages the establishment of the joint-stock companies in charge of water supply in Ganja and Shaki with participation of local self-government bodies.

The concept does not indicate the share of municipalities in the capital of joint-stock companies, but they will have only a blocking vote in the adoption of resolutions. The concept also notes that the principles of relationships with Azersu Joint-Stock Company. The government should implement some initial terms, in particular; the charter of regional JSCs on water supply must undergo state registration.

The budget of the first phase of the project with term of 3.5-4 years was accorded in the amount of 54m euros. 37m euros (25,85m euro of the new credit and remainder of analogous work in Imishli) will be approved by KfW, 10m euros - by the Swiss State Secretariat of Economic Relationships (SECO), 7m euros - the Azerbaijani government. The total cost of the reconstruction of water supply and sewerage system in Ganja and Shaki till 2030 was estimated to 80-100m euros.
