22 February 2005 [09:20] - TODAY.AZ
The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) is probable to cease the export of its oil via the Baku-Novorossisyk northern export oil pipeline from April 2005 to the commissioning of the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan main export oil pipeline.
The SOCAR told Trend that the shareholders of the Azerbaijan International Operating Company (AIOC), an operator of the exploitation of the Baku-Novorossiysk route, can use the 'northern' route for oil delivery to world markets.

At present experts of the SOCAR are considering the alternative opportunities, including oil delivery to the world markets and oil refinery at the oil refinery plants.

Earlier the shareholders of AIOC used the Baku-Novorossisyk route as an alternative to Baku-Supsa pipeline during the incidents Georgian direction or oil refinery at terminal in Sangachal. The necessity for active use of the Baku-Novorossisyk route raised after the commencement of oil production from Central Azeri field.

BP Azerbaijan, an operator of the AIOC, said that as an operator of the exploitation of the Baku-Novorossiysk export pipeline the AIOC enjoys an e right to use it for oil export. "In this case it is dealt with export of oil produced from the Central Azeri field. We expect the SOCAR to obtain an access at least to part of the discharge capacity of the Baku-Novorossiyk route," the company announced.
