Furniture production sees growth

The volume of furniture production in Azerbaijan is expected to reach 72.6 million manats ($42.70 million) in 2018, which is 11.8 percent more than last year.

The concept and forecast indicators of the socio-economic development of Azerbaijan for 2019 and the next three years says that according to government forecasts, furniture production will expand. Thus, in 2019 this figure will be 76.7 million manats ($45.12 million), in 2020 - 82.2 million manats ($48.35 million), in 2021 - 88.2 million manats ($51.88 million), in 2022 - 94.5 million manats ($55.59 million).

Most of all, production of office furniture is expected in Azerbaijan - 17,481 units in 2018. In 2019, the production of office furniture will reach 18,529 units, in 2020 - 19,641 units. From 2021 this figure will reach 20,820 units, and in 2022 - 22,069 units.

Most of all, production of office furniture is expected in Azerbaijan. Thus, in 2018 as many as 17,481 units of furniture is expected to be produced.

Furniture and generally other household items are among the most demanded products in Azerbaijan. Today, there is very wide range of furniture choice, and one can found stores for every taste at every corner of the capital and in the regions. 

Tables, chairs, wardrobes, beds – once a bulky share of these items was brought to Azerbaijan from abroad including Turkey, Malaysia, Italy, Spain and Russia.

However, the field began to steadily develop in Azerbaijan about ten years ago and today the country has more than 20 companies operating under the national brand. In addition, many people are turning to private workshops to order the unique furniture.     

The rapid growth of the construction sector over the past decade has promoted the development of the furniture market of Azerbaijan. The dynamic building sector development causes enough increase of furniture production demand which is satisfied completely both by local production and importing.

There are very dynamic enterprises in the field of furniture production of Azerbaijan. The enterprises are equipped with the latest facilities. The local furniture production is mainly based on kitchen, office, dwelling and nursery furniture. Azerbaijan exports local production mainly to Georgia, Iran, Kazakhstan, Russia.

The following countries as Italy, Turkey, Russia, China, Malaysia, Ukraine, Poland, Romania, U.A.E., Iran are the main furniture suppliers to Azerbaijan.

Nowadays there are more than 500 large furniture stores in Baku and regions where local and importing furniture is presented.

The government’s support and incentive measures for the development of the furniture industry in the country will have a great impact in this direction.

With the goal of further development of the furniture productions sphere in the country, the Association of Furniture Manufacturers is being created in Azerbaijan, which will obtain Turkish and other countries’ experience.
