Russia and Azerbaijan are actively developing tourism cooperation, which is confirmed by the growth of tourist flow to Azerbaijan and Russia, Russian Deputy Prime Minister for Culture, Sports and Tourism Olga Golodets told reporters in Baku Oct. 25 on the sidelines of the 6th Baku International Humanitarian Forum.

She said that over the past year, 900,000 tourists from Azerbaijan visited Russia, and the number of tourists from Russia, who visited Azerbaijan, was 750,000.

Azerbaijan is of interest to Russia, especially in tourism, and in the same way, the Azerbaijani side is interested in developing new tourism destinations, including sea tourism in the Caspian Sea, she noted.

“The project aimed at the development of marine tourism in the Caspian Sea is a priority for Russia and much work is envisaged in this direction,” she added. “In particular, two large vessels will be built. We see great potential in the Caspian Sea and we believe that there will be great demand in the future in this tourism destination, which necessarily needs to be developed and expanded with the mutual cooperation of our countries.”
