Nakhchivan Automobile Plant to produce electric cars

The Nakhchivan Automobile Plant is implementing a project for the production of a new generation of cars - electric vehicles, are environmentally friendly, said Director of the Nakhchivan Automobile Plant Musa Abdullayev.

The plant ordered ambulances based on LIFAN commercial minivan and in early 2019 the first models will be assembled.

"The Nakhchivan Automobile Plant was commissioned in 2010 in Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, which is in blockade [by Armenia] to participate in and support the social and economic development of the autonomous republic. More than 5,000 cars have been produced at the plant today," said Abdullayev.

The plant director noted that initially the company assembled four models of LIFAN cars, which are sold in the country under the NAZ-LIFAN brand. Currently, the range has grown to 14 different models, including commercial ones.

"Our cars meet modern design and the highest safety standards, environmental requirements that are applied in the automotive industry. Over the years, the network of service and sales of cars has increased significantly. In addition, the warranty period for our cars is now extended to three years or 150,000 kilometers, "said Musa Abdullayev.

Currently, the plant, among others, produces the following models: NAZ-L?FAN 820, which by technical parameters and modern design refers to a business sedan; NAZ-L?FAN 650, equipped with a new 1.5-liter engine, with low fuel consumption of the engine, and having a new design that is different from its predecessor - the flagship model 620; NAZ-L?FAN X60 - a crossover with an updated exterior and interior, and a modified engine that consumes less fuel; NAZ-L?FAN 330 - economical hatchback.

"Currently, the plant is working on the localization of the production of some spare parts, which will reduce the cost of cars produced at the plant," said the director of the plant.

Nakhchivan Automobile Plant was put into operation on January 11, 2010. The production range of the company includes such series of vehicles as Premium, Sedan, SUV and Mini. Such models as NAZ-LIFAN 720 (sedan) and NAZ-LIFAN X60 (crossover) are enjoying the main popularity. Technical base, equipment as well as qualification of specialists are in line with international standards.
