Poverty level goes below 5% in Azerbaijan

Azerbaijan is among the 29 countries that managed to achieve poverty reduction to less than five percent, the chairman of the committee on agrarian policy of the Azerbaijani Parliament Eldar Ibrahimov said at an international conference on the "The role of the Parliament in the implementation of the sustainable development goals in Azerbaijan".

Intensifying globalization creates new challenges in the world, according to Ibrahimov.

Answers to new challenges are among the important requirements for states and governments, he said.

Over the past years President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev adopted a state program in connection with the sustainable development goals and other similar state programs.

The work carried out by Azerbaijan is highly appreciated by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, as well as by other international organizations, Ibrahimov added.
