Azerbaijan exceeds forecasts for state budget revenues, expenditures

Azerbaijan’s state budget received revenues worth 12.04 billion manats ($7.13 billion as of October 19) in January-September 2017, which exceeds the forecast by 0.2 percent, said the country’s Finance Ministry on October 19.

Compared with the same period last year, Azerbaijan’s state budget revenues grew 19.2 percent or by 1.94 billion manats.

Expenditures of Azerbaijan’s state budget in the reporting period amounted to 12.78 billion manats (the forecast was executed by 100.7 percent). Compared with the same period last year, the state budget expenditures grew 20.3 percent (2.16 billion manats).

The deficit of the state budget was 783.6 million manats.

The state budget revenues from the Azerbaijani Ministry of Taxes amounted to 5.22 billion manats, which is by 0.1 percent more than the forecast figure and by 6.1 percent (298.5 million manats) more than in the same period last year. Of this, 73.2 percent (3.82 billion manats) accounted for revenues from Azerbaijan’s non-oil sector.

The state budget revenues from the State Customs Committee of Azerbaijan amounted to 1.95 billion manats, which is 17.8 percent more than the forecast figure and 17.9 percent or 296.6 million manats more than the revenues in January-September 2016.

In addition, in January-September 2017, 246.7 million manats entered the state budget from chargeable services of the organizations funded from the state budget, which is by 27.9 percent (53.8 million manats) more than in the same period last year and 323.2 million manats accounted for other revenues.

The State Oil Fund of Azerbaijan (SOFAZ) transferred 4.3 billion manats to the country’s budget, which is by 275 million manats less than the envisaged volume.

During January-September 2017, 38.1 percent or 4.86 billion manats of expenditures of the state budget accounted for social costs, which is 7.8 percent or 351.4 million manats more compared to the same period 2016.

In January-September 2017, the expenditures of Azerbaijan’s consolidated budget amounted to 16.97 billion manats, while its revenues were 17.58 billion manats. The surplus of the consolidated budget was 614.5 million manats.
