Prices for Azerbaijani-made bicycles announced

ISMA Bikes, the Ismayilli-based bicycle production plant, will start selling its bicycles from July 2017.

Director General of the company Elchin Gahramanov said that the sales will begin after the presentation of the domestically made bicycles scheduled for July 6.

"We will have a fairly wide range of products - we plan to introduce to the market 40 different models of bicycles, starting those for kids to bikes used by professional riders.  We are planning to collect about 5,000-10,000 bicycles this year and next year to reach the level of 30,000 bicycles," said Gahramanov.

As for the cost of bicycles, the Director General noted that it will vary from 70 ($41) to 2,500 manats ($1468).

Gahramanov added that despite the great interest in cooperation from other companies, the sale of bicycles will be carried out through the company’s own store in the territory of the cycle track, located near the metro station “January 20”.

The production of bicycles is a new area for Azerbaijan and to help the local producer, the government exempted the import of spare parts used for the production of bicycles from payment of customs duties, starting from July 22, 2017 for a period of 2 years.

A bicycle production factory "?SMA B?KES" was opened in Azerbaijan in summer 2016.

ISMA Bikes, which is a part of Synergy Group, is the first bicycle manufacturer in Azerbaijan. The plant is built on the territory of the village of Diyalli, located in 6 kilometers from the city of Ismayilli.

The factory area covers a territory of 8 hectares. Some 7 million manats ($4.1 million) were invested in the project to implement the process of construction and install all necessary equipment, which meets all necessary European standards.
