Azerbaijan to welcome more Asian tourists

Azerbaijan Airlines, AZAL, will begin performing regular passenger flights from Baku to the capital of Thailand - Bangkok [Suvarnabhumi International Airport] starting from October 29.

This is the first direct scheduled passenger flight from the capital of Azerbaijan to Southeast Asia. Flights from Baku to Bangkok will be carried out on Tuesdays and Sundays on comfortable Boeing-767 liners, equipped with economy class lounges and VIP Club.

Return flights from Bangkok to Baku will depart on Wednesdays and Mondays.

The opening of direct flights between Baku and Bangkok is expected to significantly increase the flow of tourists from the countries of South-East Asia to Azerbaijan.

Nahid Bagirov, Azerbaijan Tourism Association (AzTa) Chairman told Trend that the number of Asian tourists visiting Baku has already increased.  

“The opening of direct flight will significantly increase the flow of tourists to Azerbaijan from Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia,” he said.

The chairman of the Association noted that at present Azerbaijan is in great demand among tourists from Indonesia.

"We already have a number of programs and proposals for Indonesia and also from Malaysia, so the opening of direct flights will allow us to expand geography and increase the volume of tourist flow to Azerbaijan," Bagirov said.

Azerbaijani people are well known for their hospitality while the country’s nature with its climate, beauty and uniqueness mesmerizes even the most claimant tourists.

The country with rich ancient history has thousands of places to visit, ranging from the capital to the unique villages lost in the clouds. Baku, where past and modernity, East and West have intertwined cannot leave indifferent any traveler. Warm Caspian Sea, sandy beaches and delicious Caucasian cuisine attract tourists to Azerbaijani resorts day by day.
