Baku has once again named one of the most popular cities among CIS cities for summer vacations 2017.

Analytical agency TurStat, identified cities that are popular among tourists for travel this summer.

Capitals of Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Armenia and Uzbekistan are Top popular CIS cities. Astana, Baku, Minsk, Yerevan, Tashkent, Almaty, Chisinau, Bishkek, Kiev and Ashgabat are among the Top 10 most popular cities of the CIS for tourists in the summer of 2017.

Baku will host the Grand Prix of Azerbaijan Formula 1 from June 23 to 25 and the "Zhara" music festival on July 27-30. Also, tourists visit Baku to rest on the coast of the Caspian Sea.

Tourists come to Baku on average for five days in summer and spend $75 per night for staying at the hotel, according to Turstat.

Unique culture and history, delicious food and wine and plenty of adventures are awaiting travelers in Azerbaijan.

Baku, known as home to an ancient civilization dating back to 5500 BC, is a compact city in which visitors can easily walk around the city center to see most attractions, along with a mix of architecture. The capital is the location where past and present are intricately intertwined, having always attracted tourists.

There are also monuments dating to ancient ages and medieval centuries within the district. Icherisheher, meaning Old City, is the most magnificent of the historical monuments in Azerbaijan and is included by UNESCO among the world cultural heritage items. The Shirvanshah palace complex, which is another astonishing state historical architectural museum-preserve, is its masterpiece.

The open-air museum, and Baku’s most majestic and mysterious monument - the Maiden Tower or Giz Galasi - is also located here. Built in the shape of a cylinder on the Caspian Sea shore, the Maiden Tower is a structure which, rather like a buttress, sticks out from the cylindrical tower on the sea side.

The Flame Towers, the tallest skyscraper in Baku at a height of 190 m, is also a beautiful symbol of the city. The capital Baku is on the Caspian Sea, but also home to oil drilling derricks and futuristic skyscrapers.

But beyond its nature, which is key reason for the tourism, the people of Azerbaijan are wonderfully welcoming and hospitable.

Azerbaijan is also a perfect destination for Russian tourists, because of its people’s very friendly attitude towards Russia. Here Russian-speaking tourists have no problem with communication, as Azerbaijanis speak Russian well enough to help with any difficulties.
