The transition to digital broadcasting in Azerbaijan plays a special role in regulating radio frequencies in the territories bordering with Iran, said Minister of Communications and High Technologies Ramin Guluzade at a meeting with his Iranian colleague, Minister Mahmoud Vaezi.

Guluzade voiced an intention to involve Iranian private companies presented at the recent Baku exhibition and conference in the Azerbaijani ICT sector.

The Azerbaijani minister said that 2016 played a decisive role in strengthening friendly relations between Azerbaijan and Iran in the implementation of important projects, as well as in expansion of relations between the countries.

At the meeting the ministers discussed the expansion of cooperation in the field of telecommunications and mail, joint participation in regional projects, promotion of cooperation between companies of the two countries, regulation of radio frequencies in the border areas and prospects of cooperation in the field of satellite services.

In turn, Vaezi expressed satisfaction with expansion of cooperation in the sphere of communications and high technologies, noting that by using existing capacities Baku and Tehran have established a fruitful cooperation in all areas. He also stressed the possibility of mutually beneficial cooperation in the space industry.

In conclusion, the working group was instructed to implement the issues discussed at the meeting.

Expansion of cooperation in the field of information and communication technologies will open the Iranian ICT market to Azerbaijani companies. Meanwhile, the Iranian companies will gain access to the Azerbaijani market.
