Issues of developing alternative and renewable energy sector mulled in Baku

During the 7th International Forum on Energy for Sustainable Development, organized by the State Agency on Alternative and Renewable Energy (AREA) and held jointly by the Government of Azerbaijan and UN Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) in Baku from 18 to 21 October 2016, the Chairman of AREA Mr. Akim Badalov, received a large delegation led by Mr.Liang Zipeng, Deputy Head Renewable and New Energy Department of the National Energy Administration of China within their visit to Azerbaijan. 

During the meeting with delegation from friendly country, both sides exchanged experience in the sphere of alternative and renewable energy sources and exchanged views on designing and construction of production sites, expansion of cooperation among industrial.

Also, representatives of more than 10 influential energy companies from Chinese delegation expressed their interest in projects implemented by the State Agency on Alternative and Renewable Energy Sources and investments for creation of energy production sites owing to renewable energy sources in Azerbaijan.

Mr.Akim Badalov informed the delegation that as an outcome of successful energy policy led by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev  the Memorandum of Understanding, signed between the State Agency on Alternative and Renewable Energy Sources of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Energy Administration of the People’s Republic of China, gave a push to rapid development of bilateral cooperation between our countries in this area.

Besides this, a meeting with the delegation of International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) and Renewable Energy Network (REN 21), as one of the organizers of the 7th International Forum on Energy for Sustainable Development, was held, exchange of views on achievement of  energy- related Sustainable Development Goals and meeting of commitments under Paris Climate Agreement –  intensification of national efforts for improvement of access to modern energy, reducing net carbon emissions in energy sector, application of energy efficiency in various sectors of economy, improvement of legislative framework in this area took place in the State Agency on Alternative and Renewable Energy Sources.
