Iranian President ratifies law on construction of hydroelectric power stations in Ordubad and Marazad

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani has signed into law the Agreement on Construction and Exploitation of Hydroelectric Power Stations in the cities of Ordubad and Marazad between the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Government of the Islamic Republic of Iran. The agreement was signed during the official visit of President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev to Iran in April 2014.

The agreement was approved by the Iranian Islamic Consultative Assembly (parliament) this August. It was also approved by the Guardian Council, which is charged with ensuring the compatibility of the legislation passed by the Islamic Consultative Assembly with the criteria of Islam and the Constitution.
