Russia’s Federal Air Transport Agency (Rosaviatsia) has revoked permits of several air carriers for flights to Azerbaijani cities.
The agency reported that these companies are Kogalymavia, Yamal Airlines, Saratov Airlines, UTair, Izhavia, Taimyr Air Company and VIM Airlines.
The reason for the revocation is that the air carriers didn’t carry out flights during a season according to the schedule of IATA (International Air Transport Association).
These companies had licenses for carrying out flights from Russia’s Moscow, Surgut, Novosibirsk, Ufa, Tyumen, Samara and St. Petersburg to Azerbaijan’s Baku, Ganja, Lankaran, Gabala and Zagatala cities.
However, the above mentioned companies failed to carry out flights to Azerbaijan since obtaining their permits.
But, Komiaviatrans, Ural Airlines and low-cost carrier Pobeda still keep licenses for flights to Azerbaijan.
Komiaviatrans carries out flights on the routes from Russian cities of Nizhny Novgorod, Samara, Kaluga, Siktivkar to Baku via Embraer-145 aircraft.
Moreover, Ural Airlines recently opened a new flight Gabala-Moscow-Gabala which is operated every Sunday.
Another carrier, Pobeda, will held flights from Rostov-on-Don to Baku four times a week.
Over the past year, Azerbaijan received over 2 million tourists, 685,000 of whom were guests from Russia, and this figure is expected to rise by the end of 2016.
