Romania interested in developing economic ties with Azerbaijan

Romania is interested in developing economic ties with Azerbaijan, Romanian ambassador to Baku Daniel Cristian Ciobanu, made the remark as he met Deputy Head of the Sheki City Executive Power Hasan Hasanov.

The meeting was held as part of the ambassador’s visit to Azerbaijan’s region of Sheki on November 23.

Hasanov addressed the meeting, praising the excellent cooperation between the two countries in all fields. He pointed out to the remarkable developments which have been taken place in Sheki for the last years.

The ambassador, for his part, stressed that there are good perspectives for boosting the exchange of goods and increasing the volume of trade at regional level.

Ciobanu presented the opportunities opened by the project on the transport corridor between the Black Sea and the Caspian Sea for increased cooperation in the trade field.

He mentioned that Romania has been the second country in the world to recognize independence of Azerbaijan, which has established a strategic partnership with Baku since 2009.

Within his working visit to the region, the ambassador will deliver a lecture on November 24 at the Sheki branch of Azerbaijan Teachers Institute on the perspectives of NATO-Azerbaijan partnership.

The lecture will be held within the mandate Romanian diplomatic mission’s mandate as a NATO Contact Point Embassy for the fourth time in a row. Romania actively supports the development of NATO-Azerbaijan partnership.

Romania is ready to share its experience of Euro-Atlantic integration, presenting best practices and providing expertise on the implementation of reforms in the security and defense sectors in accordance to NATO standards. Embassy of Romania in Baku operates as an active channel for disseminating information about the role and policies of NATO.

The two countries signed a strategic cooperation agreement in 2011, that gave an impetus to the development of bilateral economic relations, which are developing dynamically till now.
