Prospective development of the Azerkimya Production Association of Azerbaijan's state energy company SOCAR will be carried out on schedule and without dropping any projects, a source in Azerkimya told Trend.

According to the source, the program of prospective development has three stages for the implementation of a new project.

“In the first stage, for the period 2015-2017, reconstruction of the node of propane-propylene fraction release, construction of the propylene micro elements cleaning branch and the unit for production of highly concentrated hydrogen, and the introduction of a new DCS automation system have been scheduled,” the source said.

The source noted that the second stage covered the period 2016-2018.

“In the second stage, we will construct the ethylene micro elements cleaning branch, new pyrolysis furnaces, and the unit for complete hydrogenation and reconstruct the columns of the butane-butylene gas separation block, compressors, and reactor block for the selective hydrogenation of ethylene and propylene fraction,” stated the source. “In the third stage, we will complete the introduction of the new automation system, construct a new nitrogen unit and purification unit for processing wastewater, and upgrade the steam generating complex and the existing infrastructure.”

The source also claimed that at present, the preliminary design of all the work is underway.

“The production association will begin to place orders for the necessary equipment starting in early 2016,” the source confirmed.

SOCAR includes production associations Azerneft, comprising companies involved in the production of onshore and offshore oil and gas; Azerkimya, chemical industry enterprises; and Azeriqaz, companies involved in gas distribution. It is involved in exploring oil and gas fields; producing, processing, and transporting oil, gas, and gas condensate; marketing petroleum and petrochemical products in the domestic and international markets; and supplying natural gas to the industries and public in Azerbaijan.

Azerkimya includes an ethylene-polyethylene plant, surfactants plant, organic synthesis plant, mechanical repair plant, the Kimyaelmitedgigatlayihe Institute, a repair and construction department, a transport and special equipment department, and warehouses.
