Azerbaijan on last phase of overhaul of railway westward

Azerbaijan Railways has repaired 301 kilometres of track during the overhaul of 317 kilometres of the Baku- Boyuk Kesik railway, the company said on Nov.27.

"Replacement of rails was completed on a 240.8 kilometre stretch of the railway," the statement said.

According to the statement, work within this project continues and on November 27 the overhaul started on a 12.3 kilometre stretch section of the main railway in the Zayam-Dallar section. The information stated that work at the section will continue for 10 days.

As the company said on Nov.27, the overhaul of the whole 317 kilometres will be completed in mid-December.

Major repairs of 317 kilometers of Baku-Boyuk Kesik are carried out by a 215 million euro loan allocated by the Czech Exim Bank. Works on overhaul of the railway started on June 10, 2011 from the 97 kilometers of the Aghstafa-Tatli railway stretch.

Specialized railway institutions #4 and #11 of the Demiryolservis LLC and the Azerbaijan Railways Ltd and corresponding bodies of the infrastructure department were invited to reconstruction.
