SOCAR drafts report on environmental impact

The Azerbaijani State Oil Company (SOCAR) started preparations of a report on the environmental and social impact of construction of the new offshore platform in the shallow part of "Guneshli" field in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea.

SOCAR's Ecology Department reported that the project of the platform No.7 in "Guneshli" field was prepared by the State Oil Company's ·Oil and Gas Research and Design Institute by order of Oil and Gas Management (OGPU) "28 May".

The deepwater part of "Guneshli" field is developed by SOCAR jointly with international companies in Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli oil and gas fields' block.

SOCAR includes the production association "Azerneft" (companies producing oil and gas on land and sea), "Azerkimya" (chemical industry enterprises), and "Azerigaz" (gas distribution).

In addition, the State Oil Company has a number of processing and service enterprises as well as institutions involved in geophysical and drilling activities.
