Turkish Airlines to undergo partial privatization

"Turkish Airlines" (Türk Hava Yollar?) will be put up for partial privatization, Sabah newspaper said today.

Around 49.12 percent state in the airline will be put up for privatization.

An international consultant is planned to be involved for the successful completion of the privatization process.

The date of launching the privatization is not specified.

There is an active process of state-owned companies' privatization in Turkey. Thus, Turkish telecommunication company Türk Telekom, Halk Bankas? bank and other state institutions were privatized earlier.

The airline was established on May 20, 1933 as the State Aviation Administration. It makes regular flights to 123 international and 32 domestic airports in Europe, Asia, Africa and the USA.

The airline staff hits about 12,000 employees.

The airline has become a member of the Star Alliance since April 1, 2008. Anadolujet, SunExpress and B & H Airlines are the airline's subsidiaries.

Turkish Airlines fleet mainly consists of Boeing 777-300ER, Airbus A319-100 aircraft.
