
Azerbaijan and the European Union have discussed the execution of the organization`s budget support program in the country as Agriculture Minister Ismet Abasov met Michael Kohler, ‘Neighbourhood’ Director in the Development and Cooperation-EuropeAid Directorate-General of the European Commission in Baku.
They also explored ways of developing the Azerbaijan-EU cooperation.
Minister Abasov highlighted his country`s economic progress, whose foundations, he said, were laid by national leader Heydar Aliyev. The Minister added this policy was today successfully continued by President Ilham Aliyev.
Abasov praised Azerbaijan`s agricultural development, saying the sector was growing at a rapid pace.
The Minister stressed the importance of joint projects with international organizations in terms of development of agriculture.
They also exchanged views on projects in the field of veterinary service under the EU`s budget support program, and discussed how to improve a legal framework for developing the veterinary sector.
The Azerbaijani Minister said he believes the EU-related projects would contribute to improving the quality of veterinary services.
Kohler expressed confidence the EU-Azerbaijan cooperation would be further expanded.
Head of the EU delegation to Azerbaijan Roland Kobia was present at the meeting.
