Azerbaijan, Netherlands to ink paper on investment protection

01 May 2013 [17:55] - TODAY.AZ
Azerbaijan and the Netherlands will sign an agreement to promote the protection of investments.

"Tuesday is a momentous day for the Netherlands - the queen gave her throne to her son," Dutch Ambassador to Azerbaijan Arjen Uijterlinde said Tuesday at a press conference dedicated to Queen's Day of the Netherlands.

According to him, from now on, the country will celebrate not Queen's Day, but the Day of the King, and this date will be marked on April 27, instead of April 30.

Uijterlinde also spoke about bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and the Netherlands.

According to him, the trade turnover between the two countries amounted to 300,000 euros last year, increasing by half compared to 2011.

The ambassador stressed close ties between the two countries.

"A number of official visits have taken place in the past and in recent years. We have tried to expand economic ties. A visit of two trade missions of the Netherlands to Azerbaijan and the signing of the agreement between the two countries on the promotion and mutual protection of investments are expected this year. Overall, the Netherlands and Azerbaijan may closely cooperate and exchange experiences in the fields of energy, agriculture, water supply and sports," the ambassador said.
