Prize Fund of “Tour of Azerbaijan” cycling tournament to total 69,000 euro

“Tour of Azebaijan” cycling tournament will have an increased total prize fund of  69, 000 euro, said the member of the organizing committee of the tour, the director of the German company "FREUNDE Eventlogistik GmbH" Albresht Röder during an official presentation of the race, which will be held in Azerbaijan from May 1st to May 5th, 2013. The tournament will bring together 25 teams from 40 countries.

According to Mr. Albresht Röder, the favorites of the race are considered teams from Luxembourg, Belgium and the Netherlands. But these countries will be represented by the second squad in Azerbaijan, which are not weaker at all, while Australia will be represented by the national team respectively.

“The 1st place winner will be granted 6,000 Euro, while the ones to be distinguished in the sprint and mount competitions` events will also be awarded with the prize money as well” he added.

The race, organized by the Cycling Federation of Azerbaijan with the support of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the National Olympic Committee and the UCI, is dedicated to the 90th anniversary of national leader Heydar Aliyev.
Tour of Azerbaijan is a 2.2 event on the UCI Europe Tour which will start in Azerbaijani capital, Baku, and pass 7 regions of the country.

Let`s remind that in May 2012 the international U23 cycling tour in the memory of national leader Heydar Aliyev successfully took place in Azerbaijan. 17 teams from 15 countries participated in the competition. Usef Reguigui became the winner of “Centre Mondial du Cyclisme”. The level of organization and carrying out of the tour received a positive feedback from the participants, as well as the international and European cycling federations.
