Azerbaijan's non-oil industry jumps

As a result of industrialization policy, the non-oil industry of Azerbaijan rose by 7.8 percent in 2012.

This was stated by the Minister of Economic Development Shahin Mustafayev during his speech at the meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers on outcomes of socio-economic development in 2012 and tasks for 2013, held on Tuesday under the chairmanship of President Ilham Aliyev.

"Commissioning of some 100 industrial enterprises in 2012, including heavy engineering plants and fine processing plant in Sumgayit technology park, Ganja aluminum plant, cement plants in Nakhchivan and Garadagh, plants for sorting and incineration of solid waste, as well as the continuation of construction of over 90 industrial enterprises play a significant role in the development of non-oil sector," Mustafayev said.

According to him, works within industrial policy, including construction of gas and petrochemical facilities, shipbuilding and urea plants, a complex for the production of steel will continue in subsequent years. .

"Production of electricity in the country grew by 6.9 percent; constructions of power lines, installation of gas lines in residential areas or repair works were continuously undertaken. In the area of ??alternative and renewable energy Azgüntex solar panels and "Fuzuli" and "Gusar-1" hydropower stations were commissioned" Mustafayev said.
