
Statoil company presented Gas Value Chain at the Azerbaijan Diplomatic Academy on Thursday, the company reported.
"We are proud to have been contributing to the development of the industry in Azerbaijan for 20 years now, and we would like to be instrumental in turning Azerbaijan into a leading energy player in the European gas market. Furthermore, assisitng Azerbaijani industry and academia in several important areas, suich as stimulating competence development, supplier identification, establishing joint-ventures and internatioanl cooperation are all of utmost importance to Statoil," said Trond Enge, Vice Presdent Natural Gas Statoil Azerbaijan, opening a one-day seminar on Gas Value Chain held on December 6th at the Azerbaijan Diplomatic Academy.
"The annual growth of demand in Europe being 2% and with domestic production declining, Europe needs and is ready for Azerbaijani gas. Statoil looks at Shah Deniz stage 2 project from a pan-European perspective. As the second biggest exporter of gas to Europe and the operator of about 8,000 kilometers of pipelines, we would like to bring Azerbaijani gas to Europe along with the gas from Norwegian Continental Shelf and North Africa", said Trond Enge.
The seminar at the Azerbaijan Diplomatic Academy is organised as part of the ongoing cooperation between the two organisations and is held at a new campus of the Academy. The participants of the seminar will be presented by Statoil's specialists on a series of issues, covering the whole value chain from the development and production of gas to its transportation and marketing.
