TANAP construction to be completed by 2018

Construction of Trans-Anatolian gas pipeline (TANAP) will start in 2014 and completed presumably by 2018, vice-president of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan, academician Khoshbakht Yusifzade said during the meeting with members of the Caspian-European Integration Business Club.

According to Yusifzade, TANAP will run to the border of Bulgaria, passing through the territory of Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey. The main issue is the construction of the pipeline’s Turkish segment.

The academician said that in the future, the pipeline may be extended from Bulgaria to Romania and in the direction of Italy, may also be connected with Nabucco or Trans Adriatic Pipeline.
The planned capacity of the pipeline would be 16 billion cubic metres (570 billion cubic feet) of natural gas per year at initial stage and would be increased later.
