SOCAR conducts eco-monitoring in Caspian Sea

SOCAR's Department of Ecology has conducted environmental monitoring at the offshore fields "Alat Deniz" and "Bulla Deniz" in the Azerbaijan sector of the Caspian Sea, a statement posted on the official website of the department said today.

Both fields are controlled by SOCAR's N. Narimanov Oil and Gas Department.

The monitoring examined samples of the water, plankton, phytoplankton and sediments, the physical and chemical characteristics of the marine environment and the speed and direction of ocean currents.

SOCAR includes the Azneft production association (the companies producing oil and gas on and offshore), the Azerkimya industrial association (chemical enterprises) and Azerigaz industrial association (gas distribution).
