First methanol plant in Azerbaijan to be launched soon

 The first methanol plant in the South Caucasus will be commissioned In Azerbaijan on December 24, 2012, the chairman of the Azerbaijan Methanol Company (Azmeco) Nizami Piriyev said.
As is known, earlier the launch of the methanol plant was postponed.

The test production is planned for early 2013: “At the first stage the producing capacity of the plant will make 560,000 tons (2 thousand tons of methanol per day) and in six months it will reach 720,000 tons”, he emphasized.

He said the projected cost of the plant is estimated at $350m but given the banking expenses for loan payment, the construction will take over $400m.

The company head said that currently a number of countries are interested in methanol due to the ecological safety of the production and Azerbaijan, in turn, is ready to share experience in establishing the production: “By our estimates, some 90% of ready production will be sent to export”, he added.
