24 October 2012 [10:10] - TODAY.AZ
Transition to the fuel of Euro 3 standard in Azerbaijan requires some time, head of the State Committee for Standardization, Metrology and Patents Ramiz Hasanov said on Tuesday.

He noted that at present environmental standards Euro-3 in the country applies to vehicles and their spare parts.

"Each transition to euro, for example from the Euro-3 to Euro-4 requires approximately $1 billion," Hasanov said.

Earlier, Vice-President of State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) on processing David Mammadov said gasoline production of Euro-3 standards is planned for 2014, when they completed the reconstruction of existing refineries.

Further improve of the quality of fuel to Euro-4 and Euro-5 will be possible after SOCAR will commission a new oil and gas processing, petrochemical complex, construction of which is scheduled in Garadagh district of Baku.
