Azerbaijani Railways to buy new carriages

Azerbaijani Railways are planning to purchase 25 new carriages and overhaul 50 carriages within the 'State program on development of railway transport system in 2010-2014', the chairman of the Azerbaijani Railways Arif Askarov told journalists on Saturday.

In his words, 15 of the repaired carriages have already been delivered to Baku and connected to the train, working in Georgian direction. Some 35 carriages will be delivered in February 2013 and will be working in the northern direction.

Askarov said around 134 kilometers of railway in the western direction have been reconstructed within the state program

The total length of reconstructed railways in this direction will reach 140 kilometers by the end of the year
