Austria ready to assist Azerbaijan in tourism sector development

26 September 2012 [17:10] - TODAY.AZ
Azerbaijan is interested in the development of the tourism sector and Austria is ready to share its experience in this area, Austrian Ambassador to Azerbaijan Sylvia Meier-Kajbic told reporters on Wednesday.

"Tourism in our country is well developed and many tourists visit Austria every year. Austria can share many years of experience and knowledge which can help Azerbaijan develop certain directions of tourism," Kajbic said.

As Meier-Kajbic told Trend, the number of Azerbaijani tourists who want to visit Austria is growing every year.

"Since last year the number of applications for visas doubled," Kajbic said.

As was indicated at the press conference, a conference on tourism issues will be held on Oct.19-20 2012 in Baku with the support of the Azerbaijani-Austrian Chamber of Commerce, BEHF, Siemens and Hotel Kempinski Badamdar.

The conference will discuss issues such as the development of tourism in Azerbaijan, role of sports and cultural events in the development of tourism, personnel policy in this field, education and training, as well as projects for the development of tourism in Azerbaijan.

A Viennese Ball will be held after the conference in Baku on Oct.20.

"A Viennese Ball is one of the most beautiful of Austrian traditions and we are glad to have the opportunity to demonstrate it in Azerbaijan," Kajbic said.
