24 September 2012 [15:05] - TODAY.AZ
Azerbaijan and the Volgograd region of the Russian Federation will sign an agreement on trade, economic, scientific, technical and cultural cooperation, Azerbaijani Minister of Economic Development Shahin Mustafayev said at the Azerbaijani-Russian business forum in Baku today.

The meeting is being held during the visit of a delegation of the Volgograd region, led by Governor Sergei Bozhenov, to Azerbaijan.

"Today there is a good legal framework for cooperation between Azerbaijan and Russia, including its regions," Mustafayev said. "Azerbaijan has established relations with more than 70 out of 82 regions of the Russian Federation. A new page has been opened in the history of economic cooperation with the Volgograd region today."

He said that there is a lot of common ground in the interest of both sides.

"The areas of agricultural product processing, tourism and transportation are of mutual interest," Mustafayev said. "The Volgograd region has good experience in the chemical industry and we would like to see representatives of the region developing the project at Sumgait Technology Park. The cooperation in many areas can be mutually beneficial for both sides."
