Baku, Rome to mull economic issues

A meeting of the Azerbaijan-Italian intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation will be held in the near future in Baku, during which the parties will discuss bilateral cooperation including the humanitarian sphere, Azerbaijani Ambassador to Italy, Vagif Sadigov, who is attending the fourth meeting of the Heads of Diplomatic Missions of Azerbaijan, told Trend on Friday. In general, the diplomat assessed relations between the two countries as being good and also stressed the presence of prospects for their further development.

"There is direct flight between Azerbaijan and Italy which led to improvement of the trade and economic component of our relations," he said. Sadigov stressed that mutual trade turnover this year has considerably increased. "The difference between figures of trade turnover of the current and last year was about $2 billion," Sadigov said.

He said at present Baku and Rome work on arranging mutual visits which will significantly increase the level of bilateral relations.
