
Azerbaijan`s transport minister, Ziya Mammadov, has said construction work on the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway, which will link Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey, is nearing its end.
“Main part of construction will be completed until the end of this year,” he told journalists.
According to the minister, a 4.4 km-long tunnel will be built in the Turkish section of the railway. The construction of the tunnel will be carried out by Turkey and Georgia.
Mammadov said the initial capacity of the railway would be 5 million tons of cargo, adding it will be brought to 15 million tons in future.
