During the first half of 2012, 28,1m tones of load (4.8% more compared to the previous year) and 129,3m people (7.7% more) were transported through the Azerbaijani side of the Silk Road.
Of the load, 44.2% accounted for car transportation, 36.8% for railway transportation and 19.0% for sea transportation. Thus, car transportation increased by 7.1%, while railway transportation by 5.9%, according to the State Statistical Committee.
Of the loads transported via the passage, 28.7% or 8.1m tones were transit loads. As many as AZN 213,6m were generated from the load transportation, while passenger transportation brought profit worth AZN 40,6. The profit from the load transportation increased by 21.6%, while profit from the passenger transportation by 6.3%.
