Signing an agreement on mutual assistance in customs matters between Azerbaijan and Korea is a topical issue, head of the Azerbaijani State Customs Committee (SCC) Aydin Aliyev said at the second meeting of the two countries' customs services in Baku on Tuesday.

"The status of the agreement is not known yet, but the parties must begin work on its preparation, and discussions are ongoing," Aliyev said.

The Korean model of customs administration was presented at the meeting.

During the visit, the Korean delegation will familiarize itself with the Center for Risk Management of SCC.

State Customs Committee will examine the Korean side's proposals to improve work.

"In addition, cooperation is possible between training centers of the World Customs Organization, which operate in both countries in the future," Aliyev said.

The commissioner of the Korea Customs Service, Yung-Sup Joo, said Azerbaijani customs service, despite the young age, achieved great results in its work.

"Today there is a need for contact between the two customs administrations to work together in the field of simplification of customs, trade procedures," Joo said.
