More Azerbaijani tourists visit Istanbul

The number of Azerbaijani tourists who visited Istanbul in the first quarter of 2012 has increased by 12 percent compared to 2011 to 37,339 people, the Office of Cultural Affairs and Tourism of Istanbul told Trend on Friday.

The figure was 33,440 last year. Thus, Azerbaijan ranks 12th in the number of tourists who visited Istanbul in January-March 2012.

Germany ranks first in the number of tourists in Istanbul. The number of tourists from this country amounted to 167,200 in January-March people compared to 143,200 during the same period in 2011. Germany is followed by Russia - 112,900, Great Britain - 70,800 , Italy - 58,300 people.

The total number of tourists visiting Istanbul increased by 17.5 percent in January-March 2012 compared to the same period in 2011, reaching 1.605 million.
