Azerbaijan will further improve the tax legislation, Taxes Minister Fazil Mammadov has stated today at the forum ‘Azerbaijan’s Tax System: realities and prospects; running in Baku.

"First, we are working to make the country’s tax system, which is the main condition for successful implementation of the plans for long-term strategic development of the country, stable and predictable," Mammadov said.

One of the important issues in this regard is to complete the process of improving the tax laws. “Eleven years have passed since the adoption of the Tax Code. Despite this, the country’s legislation was significantly improved during this period. We believe that we should re-examine the tax laws in the context of new economic relations and on the background of the rapid economic development pace,” he stressed.

Mammadov said the Tax Code was already submitted to the public discussion already in January-February and the country's leading experts in taxation, business representatives and relevant government agencies eye the document.

"We believe we will be able to make certain changes in the tax legislation in the medium term by closely working with the public organizations and business community in the process of improving the tax laws by studying their proposals," Mammadov said.
