BP Company restored natural gas production at Shah Deniz field which
was suspended previously, the company told Trend on Wednesday.
During the day it will be brought to normal level. Before the
platform's suspension the production volume at the field amounted to 25
million cubic meters of gas per day. Export of gas to Turkey and Georgia
is also being restored.
*****11:43BP has completed all scheduled work on the platform of Shah Deniz gas-condensate field and prepares to open wells, the company told Trend on Wednesday. On Feb.7, Azerbaijan suspended gas supply to Georgia and Turkey via the South Caucasus gas pipeline due to technical problems on a platform.
As BP Azerbaijan, technical operator of the field development, told Trend on Tuesday, during the planned maintenance work in the power system of Shah Deniz platform an automatic shutdown system of the platform went off, as a result all the processes were suspended on it.
Production from all four wells was also suspended, the company said. During the operations on the platform safety of personnel and equipment was fully ensured. Reserves of Shah Deniz field are estimated at 1.2 trillion cubic meters of gas.
The contract to develop the offshore Shah Deniz field was signed June 4, 1996. Participants to the agreement are: BP (operator) - 25.5 percent, Statoil - 25.5 percent, NICO - 10 percent, Total - 10 percent, LukAgip - 10 percent, TPAO - 9 percent, SOCAR-10 percent.
