Azerenergy, which deals with power generation and distribution in Azerbaijan, produced about 2.2 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity in January 2012 compared to about 1.9 billion kilowatt-hours during the same period of 2011, the company said on Monday.
About 20 billion kilowatt-hours of the total generated electricity accounted for thermal plants in 2011 whilst 18.4 billion kilowatt-hours accounted for hydropower plants in 2010.
In January over 2 billion kilowatt hours of total generated electricity accounted for thermal power plants, while about 0.2 billion kilowatt hours - for hydropower plants. In January electricity overflow was carried out with Russia, Iran, Georgia and Turkey.
