Poor weather not affects Azerbaijan's agriculture

Poor weather has no impact on agricultural production in Azerbaiajan, Department for Control Over Crop Production and Processing Chief Sabir Veliyev told Trend on Thursday.

"Seeding work has been completed, so the weather is even beneficial for the crops," he said.
Fall field work was completed last year.

The State Statistics Committee noted that 1040.1 thousand hectares of land were plowed for the autumn crops, sowing was carried out on 93.1 percent of these areas (968.2 thousand hectares).

Some 689.1 thousand hectares were planted with wheat (increase by 4.3 percent compared to 2010), 267.3 thousand with barley (increase by 4.9 percent), 11.8 thousand hectares with green fodder. Generally, the grain area in Azerbaijan for the year grew by 4.5 percent.
