
The number of foreigners registered in individual registration system of the State Social Protection Fund (SSPF) increased by 20.9 percent (2110 people) in Azerbaijan in 2011, Social Fund said on Monday.
The number of foreigners registered in the system of individual accountability, increased to 12 221 people for January 1, 2012, the report said. Foreigners registered in Azerbaijan come from 91 countries, the majority being Turkey with 5911. Georgian citizens ranked second at 1327 while Russians number 555.
Other countries number the following: 334 Iranians, 250 Indians, 145 Chinese, 119 citizens from the UK, 140 from Uzbek, 127 from Bosnia and Herzegovina, 84 Pakistanis, 88 Filipinos, 77 Germans, 84 Ukrainians, 80 Malaysians, 53 Turkmen citizens, 62 Kazakh citizens, 54 Italians, 55 Americans and 69 Uzbeks were registered.
The Azerbaijani President's decree on the law of 'Individual registration in the state social insurance' was originally signed in December 2001.
The individual registration is intended to organise and keep information about each insured person to provide them with pension and other social rights in accordance with the laws of the country.
The process of compulsory state social insurance of foreigners who receive salaries from sources in Azerbaijan, as well as income from which contributions are paid on compulsory social insurance, has been in force since Jan.1, 2006.
