Mobile communications to be available at local airlines

Mobile communications on Azerbaijan Airlines company aircraft will be available in April, Azerfon Company Corporate Communications Manager Elshad Farzaliyev said today. Farzaliyev noted that, subscribers will be able to use these services after the completion of  technical trials.

The project is implemented in accordance with the agreement signed by Azerfon, Azerbaijan Airlines and Swiss company OnAir. The technical solution of the project is implemented by OnAir, which was founded and owned by the tandem of Airbus and SITA (provider of IT-solutions for aviation).

The service will be introduced on 11 aircraft Airbus and four Boeing aircraft. Voice services, SMS and data services will be available on board as well. Cost of services will meet the operators' tariffs for roaming services.
